How to Install Outlook Express on Windows 7

Live Mail comes per-installed with Microsoft Windows 7 comes. There will be a Live Mail or Essential icon in your Programs list. Else, check the Startup menu and you will see the Windows Live icon. Click on it and point to Windows Live Mail. When in the window, create and configure your email account as described in the next steps.

If Live Mail did not come bundled with your computer, visit the Microsoft website and look for the program. Since it's a free email client, you need not pay for it. Click the Download Now button. Click the Save File button when prompted. When done, exit the browser window. Look for the wlsetup.exe file and open it. Click the Run button to execute the installation.

Wait for the Installing microsoft email toextract the files. When prompted to make a selection, click the box next to Mail. If you want to install other features like Messenger, check them too. When done, hit the Install button. Wait for the installer to install your chosen utilities. It will take some time. When done, Win Live will prompt you to sign up. If you already have a Hotmail account  click the Close button as you need not sign up for another account.

Now click the Start menu, All Programs, Win Live, and then Windows Mail. Since you are using Windows Mail for the first time, it will prompt you to configure your email account. In the Add an E-mail Account window, enter your email address and password in the relevant fields. Click to check the Remember Password box as you would do in Outlook. Enter your name in the Display Name field and click to check the box beside manually configure server settings for e-mail account.

If you notice, the email settings support displayed in this window are almost same as they were in Outlook Exp. Hit the Next button to continue. Enter the incoming server address and the port number also in the intended field. This window is slightly different from the window in Outlook. You had to navigate to different sections to enter port numbers and server addresses. However, here you can enter all the information in one window. Thus, you can say that it is more organized than Outlook.

Enter rest of the information as desired. Do not forget to check the box beside My outgoing server requires authentication. Hit the Next button to continue. If your email account is a Windows account, the program will prompt you to let it download your folders, messages etc. When done, finish the wizard and you will see all your emails and attachments etc. in your inbox.
